Just wanted to say how much we have enjoyed following the blog! Everyone’s entries have been so interesting, but we have particularly appreciated your regular updates, the great photos and the amazing video clips you have posted! As Amy’s mum I tried to convince her that I should come along to oversee everything….. but alas it was not to be! But your blog has been the next best thing and the excitement and wonder evident in everyone’s posts has definitely been an enjoyable subsititute! Maybe I’ll get there one day! I empathise! My alarm has just gone off at 7.00am Galapagos time, 1.00pm here (GMT!). Great descriptive blog Becky -well done.
Have to disagree about the birds however …. blackbird, sparrow, crow, blue tit, great tit, robin seem within 5 minutes this morning!

This course is going well it’s started with all the new stuff now. I’ve got my first major deadline monday but i’ve finished the work (which i’m as supprised as anyone about). I’m enjoying all the different styles of teaching, but i do miss some of your ppt presentations.

I hope you Mrs B and the girls all had fun, and that it isn’t too hard to settle back into the old daily routine also if you need any help with things in school i’d be glad to help.

I am writing this as your lovely dedication has reduced Eleri to tears . She is still a little disappointed that she wasn’t able to snorkle on that day but glad she made the effort to go. She enjoyed seeing the sharks.
Your wonderful film has shown us what an amazing experience you have all had.

I love that passage from Darwin. I read The Voyage of the Beagle this summer. Darwin’s writing is every bit as lush as the rain forest he was writing about. You and he would have been very much companions in misery with your seasickness. I’m sure he would have welcomed some kind of remedy — and the chance to see what was under the surface of the water as you did. I’ve been reading this blog since your group arrived in the islands and have been enjoying the vicarious visit very much. Thank you all for sharing.

I feel I have to ‘fess up – these aren’t my pictures (apart from the last one). Just illustrations to show roughly what we saw (we saw even more sharks and rays than this)! We don’t have good wifi here so I have not found a way to add the proper credits. I will add them or find other pictures as soon as I can.

Wonderful video of the seal. What a magnificent, intelligent and sensitive animal (as this incredibly playful footage clearly shows us!). Great to hear of much ‘animation’ from another species too!

I think that your second choice of words, ‘deserving 17 year olds’ is more apt. As a one of the parents, I saw the amount of work that the girls put into their entry, whilst also having to revise for their AS level exams. They are ‘lucky’ in that the Wellcome Trust believes in the young people in this country and that they have such excellent teachers in Nick Alford and Sue Benjamin.
